The Center for Markets in Transition (CEMAT) at the Aalto University School of Economics, former the Helsinki School of Economics (HSE), was founded in 1998 to coordinate the university’s activities related to Central and Eastern European economies in transition. In addition to these markets, CEMAT broadened its scope in 2004 and now conducts research also on rapidly transforming markets and economies in Asia.
