The Aalto University School of Economics offers high-quality lifelong learning in all aspects of economic life. There are many degree programs serving the needs of business life, and our teaching methods are versatile and interactive. We emphasize international aspects and a wide-ranging approach, so some of our teaching is in English and we have programs around the world. Our exchange program includes more than 100 partner universities.
BSc and MSc Programs
The Aalto University School of Economics has a variety of degree programs leading to the Bachelor of Science in Economics and Business Administration (B.Sc. (Bus. & Admin.)) and Master of Science in Economics and Business Administration (M.Sc. (Bus. & Admin.)) degrees, and new ones may be established according to the needs of the business life. Teaching employs many different methods and interactive teaching, e-learning and distance learning are used when they suit the objectives of learning. Teaching in Helsinki is organized in seven-week periods, while Mikkeli organizes intensive courses.
We offer degree programs in both Finnish and English. Our foreign language selection includes 11 languages, ranging from English and French to Chinese and Japanese. The partner universities, more than 100 on five continents, in our extensive exchange program are the best in their field. Each year, nearly 300 students embark on exchange programs and approximately 200 foreign students come to the Aalto University School of Economics. Our graduates have found employment easily. Their strength lies in their ability to combine high-quality, up-to-date information on economic phenomena with practical work-life skills.

Doctoral Program
The aim of the postgraduate program is to educate Licentiates of Science in Economics and Business Administration, Doctors of Science in Economics and Business Administration and Doctors of Philosophy. The Doctoral Program offers efficient and high-quality scientific teaching and supervision resulting in first-class doctoral theses. Full-time postgraduate students complete their studies in approximately four years. After graduation, the Doctors mainly work in universities and research institutions.

The MBA Program and Executive Education
The international MBA program is targeted at experts in various fields, with relevant work experience. It provides the students with skills for international managerial-level positions. Approximately 60% of the students in the full-time and 20% in the part-time program come from abroad. The language of study is English and the lecturers represent top-level professors from the world’s leading business and economics schools. The groups are small and the teaching is interactive.
HSE Executive Education Ltd. (JOKO) is the leader in international management education in Finland. Its constantly developing portfolio of programs includes about 80 open enrollment and company-specific education and training programs. The best known JOKO program is the HSE Executive EMBA, which is an advanced program designed for experienced managers.
The Aalto University School of Economics participates in the various forms of co-operation between Finnish universities, network universities, the most extensive of which is the Flexible Study Right Agreement (JOO) co-operation with all Finnish universities as participants. In addition, the Aalto University School of Economics has tailored study modules for students from other universities, in co-operation with either other universities or companies (IDBM and ITP).
The Open University unit offers open education and HSE’s Small Business Center (SBC), with branches in Helsinki, Mikkeli and St. Petersburg, specializes in developing SMEs and promoting entrepreneurship.
