Anyone interested in entering the Aalto University School of Economics doctoral program has to fulfill certain prerequisites and apply for admission. The application process takes place once a year.
Acceptance is decided by the Dean of the School of Economics on the basis of a proposal by the director of the doctoral program. Before drafting a proposal, the director asks for a statement from the professor of the applicant’s proposed major subject. The admission criteria are annually revised.
We recommend that all prospective students read carefully the current Application Guide and the application forms to understand the process. The Guide contains information on the admission criteria, application procedure as well as practical information based on frequent questions from applicants.
Note also that the applicants are required to contact the professor responsible for doctoral studies of their desired major, present a preliminary research plan to him/her, and ask for a confirmation stating that there is a suitable supervisor for their research project. This confirmation is signed in the application form by the professor (see details in the Application Guide).
In the student selection of 2010, the GMAT or GRE test is required of all applicants who do not hold a degree from a Finnish university and apply to a major which is given in English.
The next application deadline is May 31, 2010, by 16.15 o'clock at the latest. All applications must have arrived to the doctoral program by then. Send the application directly to the office of the Doctoral Program.
The applications have to be written according to the updated instructions given in the Application Guide 2010.
