Instructions for using Optima

NOTICE! Please remember to use 's' in the course pages' address https://

Server maintenance periods

  • every months' second Thursday between 16:00-20:00 and
  • every months' second friday between 06:00-08:00

may cause short interruptions in service.
Optima's maintenance is announced on the Optima's login page.


Login information to course websites

  • Most course sites include password protected files, which is why the address begins with the (https://cie.hkkk.fi) and to log on you must give your HSE username and password when requested. It is also possible that the course has a common account for people wihout HSE-accounts, they will be notified of this account by the lecturer.
    If you encounter problems loggin in:
    1. Double check username and password.
    2. If the system does no accept your account, try to input it in followin form: HKKK\k12345, where k12345 is your own accounti.
    3. Do not lock your account by trying to log on 3 times with a false password. Contact the administration instead.
  • Optima-platform is a closed system by default, your login information is given to you via e-mail.
  • Enrolling to courses i personal, you can not enroll using coursecodes via WebOodi.

Installation of Certificate

Alternative A

  • Click here to read instructions for installing the HSE root sertificate.

Alternative B

If you haven't installed the HSE root cetificate, choose first "View Certificate" and below that "Certification path". Doubleclick the upper HSE Certificate and:

  1. Click "Install certificate" and follow the instructions given thereafter by pressing "Next".
  2. Browse for the certificate store in "Place all certificates in the following store" and choose "Trusted Root Certification Authorities"
  3. Click next to continue and finish the installation.

After the above procedure, you may install the cie.hkkk.fi Certificate too:

  1. Click "View Certificate"
  2. Click "Install certificate" and follow the instructions given thereafter by pressing "Next".
  3. Browse for the certificate store in "Place all certificates in the following store" and choose "Intermediate Certification Authorities"
  4. Click next to continue and finish the installation
  5. Answer "yes" to continue in the Security alert
