The objective of the project is, on the one hand to shed light on the contents and meaning of the concept of security as a factor affecting the internationalization strategies of companies, and on the other hand to improve the readiness of the Finnish companies to prepare for business and security risks when they are operating in the rapidly changing business environments in Russia and China.
BaltMet Promo Project
BaltMet Promo Project promotes the entire Baltic Sea Region in global markets and strengthens the common identity of BSR both at home and abroad. Joint promotional products and services in the fields of tourism, talent, and investment are designed, launched and evaluated in transnational cooperation. Tourism Pilot aims to attract more Japanese tourists and Talent Pilot Japanese film industry talents to BSR. Investment Pilot attracts more international investment projects to BSR at selected world trade fairs.

Talousnäkymät, Economic prospects, is a web publication series that provides up-to-date overviews of the economic development of Russia, the Baltic countries and China from the perspective of Finnish enterprises. The site is provided by the Center for Markets in Transition (CEMAT) at the Aalto University School of Economics. The overviews combine data from economic forecasts of various research institutes, barometers that map the expectations of enterprises, and CEMAT’s partner companies’ economic outlook of the target countries. On this basis, the overviews analyze how economic prospects are reflected in the business possibilities of Finnish companies in the target countries.

This site (in Finnish) is provided jointly by three partners: Working Group for Social Sciences under the Finnish-Russian Commission for Scientific and Technological Cooperation (financed by the Academy of Finland), the Center for Markets in Transition (CEMAT) at the Aalto University School of Economics and the Small Business Center at the Aalto University School of Economics. Our aim is to support exchange of information between Finnish universities and research institutes conducting research on Russia, and Finnish companies oriented towards the Russian market.
Economic Monitoring of Northwest Russia
The project “Economic Monitoring of Northwest Russia” was launched in 2000 with the aim to provide regular, comprehensive and systematic reporting on the socio-economic development in the region. The monitoring covers today six Northwest Russian regions: The City of St Petersburg, Leningrad, Kaliningrad, Murmansk and Novgorod provinces, and the Republic of Karelia.

The aim of the study is to produce information and tools to support the strategic planning and the competence of the city of Helsinki. The study has a multidisciplinary approach to discuss aspects relevant to the business communities and the public sector. The site is provided in Finnish.
Finnish-Chinese Business Communication
The project "Globalization and International Management: Successful Governance of Intercultural Communication in Finnish-Chinese Business Operations" explores the intercultural Finnish-Chinese business communication from the perspectives of both Finnish and Chinese actors. This three-year project (2008-2010) is funded by the Academy of Finland and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS). The project is led by Professor Riitta Kosonen (CEMAT) and jointly implemented by the Center for Markets in Transition (CEMAT) at the Aalto University School of Economics, University of Jyväskylä and CASS Institute of Finance and Trade Economics (IFTE).
Companies' Social Relations in Russia
Research project “Companies’ Social Relations as a Component of Local Business Strategies: Innovative Integration Strategies of Finnish and Russian Companies” explores the entry and business strategies of Finnish companies in the changing Russian business environment. This three-year-project (2007-2009) is funded by the Academy of Finland and the Russian Foundation for Humanities. It’s jointly implemented by the Center for Markets in Transition (CEMAT) (coordinator), the University of Joensuu and the Higher School of Economics (Moscow).
